Amundsen+ Update

Featured Replies

I first used the Amundsen+ in my vRS yesterday and found it did not recognise a couple of newer roads (or my actual destination).

As far as I can tell there isn't an SD card installed and I'd reset everything in the car back to the factory settings when I bought it.

I've had a look online and seen that I can put the VIN number in on a Skoda site which will provide updates however from what I've read this is a bit hit and miss but I'll give it a go later on today.

The consensus seems to be to have to pay out for an updated SD card, am I correct in saying this? If so how much to they retail for and what do I get with it i.e. firmware updates, map updates etc?

Thanks in advance!

By entering the VIN in the official SKODA website it will indicate updates showing for the electronic modules of your car or any possible campaign for recalling problems.

The infotainment devices need to be checked separately usually manually and search in the dealer if updates may have been released (for navigation program) it is provided a DVD disk and update the NAVI.

This is not free and is chargeable depending the system.

The Amundsen + unit is a single use, paid for SD card. There's no free downloads or updates from the Skoda online portal, you need to be looking for V9 maps for the Amundsen + (note the "Plus" suffix) or the VW RNS315 perhaps. You can't use a second hand card, it must be brand new.

Thanks @Rustynuts what's the damage on one of those these days?

I take it they are available from all good Skoda main dealerships near me?

If you go to the main dealers then they're likely to relieve you of £150 or so and probably supply a year out of date stating those are the latest ones available. Better take a trip to Ebay where genuine ones can be had for much less. Also some enterprising yoofs in eastern Europe have developed a way of cloning the cards and you can buy them a fair bit cheaper. However, some people have reported problems with these, and of course I couldn't recommend buying anything but genuine myself.

I'm happy to buy genuine. Buy cheap, buy twice!

So DVD to update the firmware for the system itself, SD for the maps.

Got it.

No way to update the firmware. What you have is what you've got I'm afraid. Maps are on a single use SD card.
