Emissions "fix and looking for a new car

Featured Replies

Hi All

I am currently looking to get rid of my van and get another Skoda VRS or a Golf GTD. Looking for something around a year or 2 old.

I am just wondering if the newer engines also have the emissions cheat issue and would have had the "fix" applied by the dealer's???

We have decided not to get the fix done on our existing VRS so I don't want to purchase another that has the issues caused after the "fix" is applied.

Cheers

The mk3 Octavia doesn't have the ea189 engine so isn't affected by  the emissions recall. My mk2 fl is registered April 2013 one of the last that is affected.

Thanks for that info. I had a look at a Golf GTD and a couple of VRS mk3's yesterday. The golf was very nimble to drive but more expensive, had an electric hand brake and quite soft fabric seats. I tried a VRS 4x4 DSG hatchback and a VRS fwd manual. Think I will go for the manual but trying to get one with the winter pack on it. The VRS did seem more robust and sturdy than the golf but the golf was real fun to drive.

Hope to be a 2 Skoda family soon.
