swapping radio for bluetooth/dab/maps etc....

Featured Replies

hi

ive realised im trying to compromise too much in my octavia these days and looking at a better 'system'.  ive got a 57 L&K which im really happy with but theres wires all over the place.  i insist on dab radio, so have a dab abaptor plugged into aux with magnetic aerial fed out to the tailgate, and also the fag lighter for power.  when i want to play music over bluetooth from my phone, i unplug the dab and plug in a bluetooth adaptor, both into aux and fag lighter.  id also like to use google maps as a satnav, so that means plugging my phone in and also getting a dock.  its all a bit heath robinson and im looking at either tidying it all up with something more modern, or buying a petrol car (i dont really do long journeys and would prefer petrol, but its no deal breaker).

ive been pointed at android auto, which would cost around £500 fitted.  bit pricey maybe, but cheaper than swapping cars potentially.

anything else i can consider?  id be happy enough using my phone for everything including satnav, dashcam, maps etc but that means itd have to be mounted on the dash, and the octavia never really suits that in my opinion.  itd also be good to be able to take advantage of voice control these days, so ok google or something similar.

so...... spend £500 on AA?  something else with bluetooth/dab?  phone in dock?  different car? (id be happy downsizing to fabia/seat lean/focus/civic size).

id be interested in any opinions please

thanks a lot
