Knocking noise

Featured Replies

Hey guys appreciate this has been covered a number of times in past but I'm having hell with local dealership with a knocking noise (at low Speeds) coming from nearside of car. It sounds like something is swinging, as it can happen on smooth roads while braking or accelerating. Dealer has visibly checked front lhs suspension and can't find anything, they've reported safe to drive but to find out what is causing the knocking would need further diagnostics and substituting parts (which I'll have to pay for) to see if they can diagnose it but it's not guaranteed they will. Dont mind paying for something faulty but just paid for new window regulator as cable corroded. Car is only 4 yrs old!!! Any recent updates on possible cause.

Thanks in advance

Take it somewhere where they are very thorough and test all the suspension aspects thoroughly, with pry bar etc. A fussy MOT station might be a possibility.

The usual suspects are all in posts on here.

Front Stabiliser Drop Links

Upper mounts / Bearings

Swing Arms (most likely the console bushes)

Unseated or damaged broken spring

Damper damaged and noisey

If after through testing by someone else, still nothing. Then I suppose you will have to decide to throw some parts at it, or wait for it to get worse.

Was the regulator replaced in the passenger door? I mention this because many years ago I had a similar untraceable noise that turned out to be something that had been left inside a door. Just a thought.

probably due to poor window seals, a fault known to skoda, I would have pushed this back to them and asked for either good will  or at least replace all the seals foc.

have you checked your discs dust shields, these are known to corrode around the bolts, become loose and move about.

Thanks Gissin,

I've taken it to Skoda UK which are just as bad as dealership. I'll mention to them about bad seals but I can guess the first words reply will be warranty :/
