Chrome covers for Yeti rust doors?

Featured Replies

Just saw these on superskoda and thought they might help cover/prevent any rusty door problems

The word "exacerbation" springs to mind...

I'd say these are more likely to attract and hold water / moisture behind them and make any potential rust problem even worse. So it would be a no from me.

I remember a few posts about members wanting to fit wheel arch covers on their Yetis for rust/protection reasons without causing any exacerbation to anyone!

Fitting the side decals does work - to a point.

As in, when mine had the issues, there were zero rust issues beneath the stickers - only around them.

So maybe armourfend the entire lower door sections may be the solution.

These are the decals I have:

^^^^^^^ not usually a fan of go faster stripes etc ^^^^^^^^

but on the white of your car those decals certainly set the car off and if they help rust issues that's a bonus

You can also get allwhite door decals for darker coloured Yeti's,

What's the lower left badge on your tailgate @137699 ?

Looks like a 'VRS' badge.

So with the chrome bling and the go faster stripes 90% of the lower door protected from chips/rust !!!!!

That said, though mine has the stripes it still picked up the blisters all around the stripes.

I would suggest getting the entire lower door armourfend coated - that may well be the solution.

Armourfend ....??????

Surely if you had a yeti that had a rust problem you'd be taking it back to the dealer to get it sorted under warranty? Not sticking daft bits of tat to it

You would think so but I Think you will find this member was fortunate that he had all the door s replaced and resprayed ,others have struggled to get the work done as some dealers are in denial that there is an issue with rust/inclusions,ongoing issue if you read linked posts.

Sticking a layer over the door could well prevent the rust in the first place though.

And as this is classed as a "paintwork" issue, there is only 3 year warranty on it

Prevention is better than cure. And a lot less stressful. I went through hell with my dealer to get them to repair the issue before the warranty ran out.

A paint protection film that's generally applied to areas of the car that are susceptible to stone chip damage. A small section is on the facelift cars from the factory on the front face of the rear wheel arch on the rear doors.

I'm shocked at how dealers seem reluctant to sort out these rust issues, I remember when I took my 9year old Fabia in for some rust patches and they supplied a brand new tailgate and had the rear quarter resprayed just before my warranty ran out. Guessing I must have got lucky at the time.

slightly off topic but are your rear tints standard? I love how they look against the white paintwork.

Looks very nice, also like that gloss black trim on the drivers door and that spoilers starting to grow on me too

Mine are standard factory tints but with the genuine skoda sunshades attached behind them.

The spoiler looks lovely but be warned, it's a pretty cheap construction and cracks appear within a few months (I've had two of them):

The spoilers are flimsy and I believe there are two types,I must have been lucky not cracked...... yeti

I've had both types - they both cracked.
