Citigo AE211 Variable Valve Timing

Featured Replies

I had a MK1 Yaris many years ago which (I always thought) had a Brilliant, Responsive, Fuel Efficient Engine with vvti (variable valve timing technology).

However, the LCD Dashboard, which included a Digital Speedo was BLOODY AWFUL.

It was impossible to read the Speedo if the sun was on the display.

I notice it didn't catch on with any other manufacturer & I think Toyota soon abandoned it.

The Rear Seats were also very uncomfortable.

However, my Wife has recently bought a new Citigo SE L 75PS GreenTech.

Has the AE211 Engine installed in the Citigo also got a vvti (variable valve timing system) installed?

Yes, the CHY engine has variable timing on the intake camshaft.

The Biggest problem with ANY Digital Display, either LCD or LED in a Car is:

I find my Brain takes longer for me the read or 'register' Digital information than to read a Needle position on a Dial.

This is critical when driving because it's an added distraction to you concentration!

Give me Clocks with Needles every time, Speedo, Revs, Fuel, Temp, etc:

Far, far easier to read and aesthetically, far more attractive.
