Releasing rear seat backs remote cable

Releasing rear seat backs remote cable:
This design is ridiculous, for simply removing seats from the car !

Seems to have plastics in the way then leading to the remote release in the back.

After considerable hassle to at least get the seats free, how to free up this stupid cable ??

Remote release from boot is kind of handy I suppose, if you ever use, vastly outweighing the benefit is hassle of removing the cable / seat.

Do I have to remove not just the plastics but also the material in the back or something ??

As a quick "how to" so far as I couldn't work out where to unlatch the rears or how the base came out !

Seat backs release and bring forward, the central plastic is coupling and that covers a small nut.

The plastic latches cover latches to itself, its highly likely you will break this getting it out, but if you can it will unclip. Trouble is you don't know you are unclipping something until its already freed and you probably broke it ! Its made of nothing

Unscrew the small spline or whatever it is,  will then allow the metal work latch and it frees the seats pivot mechanism one side of each seat. where the seats are coupled in and can just be pulled out of their horizontal latch on the other side of each seat which can't be lifted up. Same design here as Skodas back to mk1.

The bottoms come out quick easy, metal hooks lift up at the front, remove the isolatches entirely, they unhook from the car in total ( 4x or so).

then the seat base just sort of pulls forward from a mounting mechanism near the middle.

But those cables !!! looks like a pain in the butt I dont want to remove all the fabric, is there not an easier way.

Any body work manuals ?

Stand down. I worked it out myself with brain power, no parcel shelf removal needed. I was misdirected a bit as the 2nd seats still had the cable attached. The plastic cover should have give it away.

You remove the cable from the seat itself so don't go need the remote handle, which makes more sense.

How do you remove the plastic cover on the seat release without breaking it ? any photos of one that's removed so I can see were the clips are to avoid snapping them

Ive sorted it , it wasn't clear I thought you meant the plastic around the release switch on the top of the seat .

It's the plastic oblong panel on the side of the seat near the bottom 6" from the seat hinge , remove the bottom seat base

put back seat in the downward position . remove the plastic flat oblong panel , inside it is the cable you unhook it and slide cable out . from corner of the seat .

silly design but very easy when you know how .
