Can anyone give me a bit of guidance on which wire to take off? There is one connected to the back of the airbag unit, and then another one the connects into the steering wheel. 

 

Which one do I take off, and how do I get it off!

If you're only removing the airbag you just need to pull the one off the back of it. The other end goes to the clock spring.

bit late now but I hope you give the capacitors time to "wind down"   approx 20 minutes I think
