Dash cam hardwire

Featured Replies

Evening folks, picked up a nextbase 512g cam and the correct hardwiring kit.

Question is what fuse have folk piggybacked the hard wire kit onto, manual recommends 20amp fuse at most. Car is a 2010 F/L vrs.

Thanks in advance, I'm clueless when it comes to this stuff.

Rear wiper works for me.

I am pretty certain it is Fuse 27. Double check though.

I also have a 512g dash cam. Video quality is crystal clear.

Will do, thanks for your help.... much appreciated

Octavia use box layout key is a rough guide as most don't correspond. I used the rear wiper fuse too. If you need the hard wire kit I have them in the garage when I removed the Nextbase from my car.

Already have the hardwire kit but thanks for the offer :)

Yeah, I used the same rear wiper fuse  and have the same dash cam. Great system.

I hardwired my system to the drivers side courtesy light bulb connection (soldered on overside(top) of holder) ), removed the bulb, then I leave the push button switch in the on position.

The advantage of doing it this way are :-

1)  You only need a very short lead length from the courtesy light housing, thus making it a very tidy install.

2) The camera switches on/off with car electrical system start up/ shutdown. Which is a few seconds after locking up the car, and on, as soon as the remote oped signal is received.

I have an A119S 1440p camera on front and a chupad 501 for the rear.
