Kenwood DMX-7017DABS Android Auto

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm new to this forum, great information on here.

I'm buying an Octavia VRS TDI, registered in August 2015. I understand this model will not have Smartlink or Mirrorlink fitted to it and was considering fitting a Kenwood DMX-7017DABS which will allow me use Android Auto for google maps and spotify.

Has anyone fitted this or a similar system and what are your views? Is it compatible? I am concerned about how it will look when fitted, would anyone have any pictures? I've done some searching but can find none.

Thanks in advance for your help : )

There are Skoda dedicated from both Pioneer and Alpine, but only the Pioneer supports Android Auto.

I am also going to do the same thing to my car, since Android Auto is pretty much a must, specially more now when I have seen and used the Waze beta.

I am still thorn between the Pioneer or a Columbus MIB2 retrofit, since I want things to mostly look OEM.

Technically, even a Bolero MIB2 would do, but if you gonna have the work, you might as well go big.

Cannot comment on that Kenwood you linked, but it is quite obvious it will look very different from the OEM system and you might lose the in-car menus

An August 2015 car can have Smartlink (Android auto Apple car play) enabled by a dealer for about £150-200.

Registered in is not, as I found out the hard way, the same thing as "manufactured in".

My car was registered in July but manufactured in April.

Same here, my O3 was manufactured in April 2015 and first registered in July 2015 - which means I have the MIB1 infotainment system.

How do you tell MIB1 and 2 apart? Is it the CD player in the glovebox?

Dunno if the CD player is a definite sign, my MIB1 does have a CD player (which I've never used).

Maybe the best solution is for me to just buy a slightly newer car with Smartlink built in already!!
