Should I buy my old Company VRS?

Featured Replies

So I've ordered my new company car and ended going for a Lexus IS300h mainly due to tax and fuel rates. I'll still need to tow my caravan and the Lexus can't do that. My wife currently has a PCP deal on a Fabia and will have 18months to run when my VRS goes back in Jan.  I'm thinking of ending the PCP deal early and buying my old VRS. I can be the 14plate VRS with 150,000miles for £6k but will have to pay Skoda £2k fee to hand the Fabia back early. Looks to be the best option at the moment unless Skoda will "do me a deal" with me buying the VRS and selling it to them + the Fabia going back early if I buy a new car from them?

any other thoughts?  My wife only does 20miles a day and doesn't really need a VRS Estate for that commute

I take it your old company car is a TDI

Your wife's 10 mile commute isn't gonna help the lifespan of the DPF, depends how often you tow but, it may work out cheaper to just rent a towing car.

Yeh it's a TDI and it was what I was thinking too. We've also got a few small trailers for going tot the tip and doing other work so would defiantly be looking for a car to tow with

How heavy is your caravan?

I've towed a mk2 Astra  with my little 1.4 tsi dsg, oh & it was on a 20' trailer weighing some like 400kg before loading the Astra.

Wouldn't say performance was at a peak as I was trying hard NOT to attract attention but, more than adequate I thought

Caravan is plated at 1300kg max. Had originally thought about using the Fabia but at 1000kg max, I don't think the 1.0 would like it too much

I was informed by a Skoda dealer that the lifespan of the DPF is about 140,000 but that's dependent on its history. Has yours been changed? If not the cost maybe over £1,000?

Only down 125,000 so far so might need doing soon. Hopefully while it's still with the company
