MOT failed Superb Elegance

Featured Replies

Had my 03 superb elegance for 3 months now and took it to my local garage for its 1st MOT today (3 weeks early!). It failed:eek: I've used them for years and trust them as much as I can. Reasons given:

1. Nearside front lower suspension arm has excessive play in a ball joint

2. Possible minute untraced leak in Power Steering (they topped it up and gave me the remainder of the bottle). Strange pumping noises started last week but only lasted for about 2 minutes after starting.

Its done 70K so are these faults common? The PAS reservoir doesn't seem to be illustrated in the manual so does anyone know where it is?

I've taken it back to the garage where I bought it as its got 6 months parts and labour warranty + 2 years extended warranty thru Hondacare. They haven't come back to me to say whether it will be covered. Should I expect to part with mega bucks or can I sleep easy tonight?

Any advice greatly received.

if it is still in warranty my friend.take it to a skoda dealer for freee repair?

My opinion would be that 1 may be cited as "wear and tear" but 2 is a legitimate warranty claim.

Thanks for the kind thought. Unfortunately its over the 60K although under (just) 3 years old. I'm amazed at the number of garages who are not aware that there is a 60K limit on a Skoda Warranty.

60k in the third year limit.

And if its going for an MOT its out of warranty (unless extended) three years.

Arms were very common on Audi (with the same suspension) not so common on Superb but not out of the ordinary.

And if its going for an MOT its out of warranty

Think he's said he's put it in early for the mot, so it would still be under warranty, if it hasn't done 70k miles that is...
