Hello Guys,

I have a 2017 superb sport-59833d9275e98_Fusebox.thumb.jpg.83349349c187dc45c9cfd40e8269fa79.jpgline got it last week and what an amazing car it it! I have trying to locate a switched 12v supply but all the fuses in my box are always live. I have read some of the groups conversations on this and it is suggested fuse 48 is the one to go for. However, as you can see from the photo of my fuse box 48 is not functional.

Would anyone have a solution to this please?

Many thanks in advance..

Mark

Can't be 100% sure, but I think I have used either fuse 33 or 34. Been working ok of 6 weeks now. I can check for sure tomorrow.

I used the rear wash/wipe fuse, from memory it's the blue 15Amp one. It's only live when the ignition is live. Top tip; wrap the entire length of the cable with electrical cloth tape it'll stop any annoying rattle. Oh and take the cover of the A pillar and run the cable behind it, don't just do a Halfords hide behind the rubber trim job. You'll be grateful in the long run.

Hello,

I sadly don't have a rear wash wipe and the fuse for that which from memory is either 47 or 48 has no terminals behind the fuse slot intended for it. But thank you for your thoughts..

Just checked and I used fuse 35. It was the only one ignition controlled that the piggy back fuse would sit in without being affected by others not allowing it to sit fully home.

Where is the closest point to pick up a ground screw near the fusebox?

If you take off the dashboard trim cover at the end of the dash, there are a few screws there that you can wire the earth to.  The cover should just pull off.

Yes, drop the glovebox to reveal the fuses, test with a multimeter and use appropriate piggyback fuse, earth position is along the side near door hinge, feed the cable up the pillar and along the head lining,  job done in around 20mins. I have camera that sticks on, much neater than suckers.

Hi @vfrvrs. I have an RAC03 (the one that goes over the rear view mirror) which I transplanted out of my previous SII Superb. In the SII the headlining wasn't very flush so pushing the cable behind it then down the back of the A pillar next to the windscreen was easy. The headlining looks like a much better fit in the new car so I have been wary of using the same method. Did you have to take he pillar trim or anything else out to do your install? If not, how did you get it to go where you wanted? Thanks.

I easily got the wire behind the headlining on my car, there is a good size gap on mine.

Thanks @facet edge. When I looked I had only had the car a day or two, so was maybe too fearful. Will look again. Did you remove the A pillar trim to feed the wire up?

I pulled the trim off of the door side and managed to feed it up there.

I pushed the cable into the headlining next to the screen and then down the pillar next to the screen. You will need a warm day then to feed across the top of the dash and pillar and then behind the rubber seal after removing the end cover on the dash. Behind that area you will see a bolt for earthing and the fuses.  Drop the glove Box lid, see the manual for instructions.

You may want to try to route down the outer part of the pillar to save going across the dash. It is tight.

A couple of photos

Just a shame about the suppression thing but apart from that no wires visable. I can't see it when driving and it is not very visable from outside due to the black dots on the screen.

An add-on question if I may... In my previous SII Superb there was a set of fuses on the driver side behind the dash end-cap. Are they not there on the SIII? The end cap shows the sign "air bag" so I am wary of removing it if there are no fuses to use.

Drop the glove Box, see your manual on what to press etc.

The fuses are behind it. I think I removed a bit of trim in the foot Well too?

It will only take 20 mins to do.

Get your small socket set out with torx drivers and a trim removal kit (available for a few quid of ebay)

Thanks. I think I'm comfortable with the set up you described - really helpful. But on the SII I rigged a combination cigarette lighter and USB unit into the cubby hole on the driver's side using a spare fuse behind the driver's side end cap, then used the cigarette adaptor on the dash cam  to plug to the powered unit (rather than cut it). I quite liked the arrangement and wondered if it is possible to replicate on the SIII. If not, I'll go down the route you suggest.

You will still have to get the lead up which is the trickiest job. Dropping the glove box and getting a piggy back fuse for the fuse box is a lot easier.

It also means you can keep the chubby hole for the pedal box controller!

Yes, cigarette lighter socket added and plug. Sorry forgot. Old folk.....
