I am after getting a P400 Fault on the reader. it says its the EGR valve.

I've looked up the prices of these bad boys and its working out at nearly 300 euro!!!!!!!

3 fricken 00!! my question is this.

 

can i clean it? if so, how? 

or do i just replace it.

 

car is an 02 BCA engine 1.4 16v

not sure on the specific engine but it may be the pipe (ex) which feeds it (egr) which is choked up  worth checking
