New Octavia Grill Badge

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

Well I guess my grill badge  has finally come to the end of the road ...

Just wondering if the only option is to replace it with a new one or is there something that can go over the top in the way you get stick on wheel badges... I guess the fact its curved rather than flat rules this out....

few options:

sand it down and polish it up so it's not got any markings

Pasty badge will go straight over

take the opportunity to buy a new style badge ;)

Hi Gissin,

At the rate this badge is deteriorating I doubt I'll have to sand it down to remove everything lol

I'm not a fan of the new style black and chrome badges and can't for the life of me see why Skoda adopted them other than they're cheaper to produce ... if I do replace it then it will be with the old school badge and a set of new wheel caps to match ...

I did see a post a while back where someone asked about body kits etc and a member posted a link to two companies one of which did a clip over cover for the which I was interested in as I've bad arthritis in my hands and I'm not sure I'm up to trying to remove and replace the existing badge

Need to replace it. They are not that expensive. Getting it off is a bit tricky, even with heat, I left some prise mark dents at 4 o'clock and 8 o'clock positions surrounding the grill.

Methylated  spirits cleaned up the residual adhesive left behind.

Some others seem to have done it without damage, maybe their heat gun was better or patience better. Still, it looks better than my old one that someone had managed to reverse into (must have been a 4wd or something with a towbar or similar very high up).

the best and only way as far as i'm concerned to remove badges is as follows:

desolve it - sticky stuff remover spray - spray this around the badge then get some floss and slowly saw at it and it'll pop off very easy for the front make sure you cut the melted sections off the back off first - ideally remove the grill to do it.

im sure theres a skoda sticker you could use, should you want to

I don't have access to a heat gun TheClient and I don't particularly fancy buying something I'd end up never using ... I'm also more likely to do more damage than good in trying to remove them......

I did find the link I'd mentioned in my earlier post and the company is Milotec who offer 3 clip on covers one with their name on, a rallye flag or plain chrome but at €29:50 they're not exactly cheap... I may ask around some of the local body shops to see if they be prepared to replace it with a Skoda one and see what they'd charge...

why put a direct request for help from an ' able ' briskodian local to you ?

if you provide the badge/s and a cup of tea I'm sure there's got to be a local Good Samaritan able to help

there is quite possibly a better thread section you could post in with a ' wider ' viewership

good luck

Davidwhite, it may well come to that as I just don't trust myself to attempt removing it without damaging the grill .... I do like the clip over ones from Milotec it's just hard trying to justify those prices when eBay sell badges that match the original for a fraction of the cost.....

I am sure heat helps get the badge off, but all I used when I wanted to replace mine was an out of date bank card with no extra heat applied. Gently prizing it underneath the edge of the badge and just wiggling it around. The badge came off quite easily and because I was using something that was in itself plastic, no damage to the grill surround. The old card got a bit twisted though, so don't use a current one.

Heat and dental floss worked a treat for me.
