Servicing schedule

Featured Replies

I have a DSG Superb Mk 3 on a 15 plate with 38K on the clock.  I want to carry out the next service myself.  I gather the DSG oil/filter needs a specialist/dealer to do correctly but I am sure I can do the engine oil/filter change myself.  What is the engine oil specification and quantity?

By doing the service yourself I trust you are aware that will be the end of the warranty. To keep the warranty other than using a Skoda dealer the only way to have a service carried out is to use a VAT registered garage who carries out the service exactly to the Skoda schedule using only Skoda or equivalent OEM quality parts. In the event of a warranty claim you would need to prove what has been done using what parts.

Considering the reputation the DSG box has for going expensively wrong I thing you are being a bit daft.

You will also wipe quite a bit off the resale value if it does not have a full service history.

Diesel needs to meet VW507.00 spec.

Petrol needs to meet VW504.00 spec.

Capacity I cannot find at present but it's a fair bet it will be just a bit more than is in a single 4-litre bottle!  A call to a Dealer may be needed.....for educational reasons only of course ;)

As far as I can recall it is 4.7 lts of oil for a service fill, and 5 lts for a dry fill, so a 5lt container of oil would be enough.

Castrol website show the oil capacity for most cars.

As the others say, I would service it with Skoda until the warranty ends and then DIY it.

If something big fails the warranty will save you more than the service cost, and they usually consider goodwill payments towards out of warranty repairs if you have at least 3 years dealer service.

If you really want to save cost, just get a Skoda oil change done for the fixed price, iirc around £130?

Thanks for the advice guys.  Although I am not a trained mechanic (although fairly knowledgeable) I work at a garage (Bosch Service Centre). I can get the Skoda oil and filter at trade price and can show a receipt.  I might get my garage to do the DSG box oil change as they have the kit to do it correctly.  They are VAT registered so as far as I can see providing they follow the Skoda service schedule I should retain my warranty.
