Great to find BRISKODA on my search for an Octavia. About to part with SAAB 9-3.... sad that the marque is no more....a great BMW/Audi alternative that has served me very well, with a hint of 'not-just-another-German-repmobile'. And now onto the thinking chap's VAG choice! Can't believe what they can get out of a 1.2 petrol these days. Smaller engine than my wife's 03 Micra!!

Hello smiggs59 welcome along to the Skoda forum it's sad about Saab but you made a good choice yes it makes you wonder how much power they will get out off small engine's before electric take's over.

Hi, welcome along!  The 9-3 is a great car and was a great alternative to the usual suspects however, you'll like the Octavia too.

Thanks for the welcome, guys. Race blue Octavia now on my drive. It's so damn quiet after the 1.9Tid SAAB! Hardly know it's started. Loving it.

Only problem so far is lack of handbook.... back to dealer on that one.

Thanks, Auric. Have downloaded and shuffled through it. Just adds to the event of buying a new motor. Especially as all this auto-lights, auto-wipers etc is new to me.
