Two Wheelers (Pedal Powered)

Should government backed third party insurance cover  all road and pavement/cycle users? As a cyclist as well as a motorised road user, I'm nervous with the ever increasing mix of cyclists and pedestrians.  I do try to be considerate and cautious . I am grateful for the ever increasing cycle routes.

In NZ there is a scheme to cover everyone.

IMO everyone that goes outside in the UK should have to have 3rd party insurance cover just incase they cause an accident and injury or death to others IMO.

Cover them as well against the medical treatment, like National Insurance which everyone does not have to pay just now, too young, do not work, visitors / tourists etc from outwith the UK.

This is regardless of being on foot or human / electric powered vehicles.

That will be what ever age and cover children & adults and bikes, scooters, skate boards, wheel chairs, mobility scooters etc etc.

On any public path, pavement, public highway etc they will then have cover that others can claim against.

Engined Vehicles that need to meet the Legal Requirements for the vehicle or driver / passengers will have the same sort of thing as now required.

Registration, testing or not, insurance, but get a sticker showing the cover, something like a Tax Disc did.

PS

A Micro Chip someplace on the body should cover things, just insert early in life in the UK and to any overseas visitors on official entry to the UK,

Right to services, leave to stay / work etc just needs loaded, loaded with what ever when ever, all your details, driving licence, library card / bus pass, free school meals, any membership, criminal records etc, everything anyone in the UK should need.

We know how good the UK is with IT & Data Bases, eg DVLA / HMRC never get things wrong....
