Sales Event  18th - 20th August 2017

Hi

We have an exciting Citygate Breaking News announcement. Savings up to £3,500 on Octavia and £2,500 on Fabia have been released within the last hour. We can also confirm that prices on cars across the entire ŠKODA range are being slashed. Over 500 cars housed in our Group Storage Centre will have to be sold over the period of 18th - 20th August.

Peter Wood, our Group Operations Director announced:

"This is happening because we have to leave our current storage facility to enable redevelopment, we therefore have to relocate all our current stock to a new site which is over 50 miles away. So, we thought rather than paying for the transportation costs on 500 vehicles, we would pass on those savings on top of all our existing ŠKODA offers to our customers."

So, you heard it here first.

Just copied the email sent to me.

Anyway, just for your information.

They claim it's due to a storage depot move....

Err, yes, that is stated in the email.......:wondering:

No I was just questioning if that is the real reason. Probably just stuffed up with bad stock they can't shift.

My local dealer who supplied my Octavia is doing "special" deals over a similar date period but presumably for 67regs? They rung me up asking if I was going as I'd had an invite. I said no as only had my Octavia 6 months.

I don't reckon Citygate, as large as they are, come under the Arthur Daley school of Car Sales heading. They sell a range of cars from their garages and storage facility, not only Skoda but the VAG range and I think KIA as well. If very much doubt they are  pulling a 'Dreams' offer must end Tuesday promotion!

The ASA and OFT and Trading Standards would become very interested.

Any sales person ordering 500 bad stock cars would find themselves out of a job before they got very far, or perhaps you think the VAG range are 'Bad Cars' but you bought one so you obviously see a good car at a good price in your Octavia, as I did in mine.

Nothing personal but I wonder why some are so quick to cast disparaging remarks on a company seeming to offer a good discount on SRP on a range of cars they have in stock. For whatever reason, moving, Christmas, new baby, It's the discount that matters , not the reason.

Don't take it the wrong way, I'm not having a go, just some light hearted humour.

Just me being cynical, what glitters isn't always gold. Especially with the motor trade.

If they were being completely honest and transparent they would publish a list of these stock cars showing the discounted prices.

Anyway I didn't think dealers hold much stock these days, virtually everything is a factory order. Hence we see posts on here about long waits for new cars.

The local Volkswagen dealer near to where I work has a compound with about 40 cars in it, still in delivery wrap so dealers must hold some unregistered stock, I suppose for "off the peg" orders. I see the cars sitting there everytime I travel by train.

VW Group Germany that say sales are doing well have lots of right hand drive production vehicles built and no buyers sitting waiting on them and they are still coming into the UK because they have too.

'Much Cheapness' deals should be coming a plenty as these will need 'First Registering' before the end of this quarter and before 67 plates.

Then in September there will be the new EU Emissions testing on vehicles built after September and all change when the new models will be less likely to have Implausible / irregular / fantasy Co2  g/km & NoX emissions.

Pile them high, and try and sell, then get them discounted and try and sell, then just try and get shot...

Seems there is a difference of opinion here, cars piled high with no buyers yet long waits for new cars. Reckon that goes to show something, not sure what though!

I only copied the email here on the off chance a forum member in the market for a new car had the opportunity to register an interest and who may, if the right car was available at the right price, for them to possibly save a few quid. I have no personal interest if the reasons are genuine or not or even care about them. There are other suppliers available, CarWow, Drive the Deal and some I cannot remember. If it helps someone local or could travel to a Citygate dealership and save £££'s that's great, if not then no harm done.

Perhaps a thread on the supply and demand of VAG cars would warrant a thread of its own.

Yes there are long waits on some factory builds, and stock sitting in the UK built if they are what suits your wants.

Prices going lower soon enough hopefully as they need shifted.

Whatever the reasons for this, I enjoyed the video. Great fun, very amusing & different too.

Good for Citigate and I hope lots of people benefit from cheap new Skodas!
