Bluetooth Module Retrofit

Featured Replies

Hi,

Has anyone managed to retrofit the bluetooth phone module to their car?

I have a 2014 VRS with steering-wheel buttons for phone integration.

Has anyone managed to get their screen to work as well as their steering buttons?

Gold-prize would be to find out what parts (part numbers are required) and how to install!

Sorry if this has been posted before.

It can be done, as I have done to my wifes. But I also fitted a Bolero from an early Superb 2 so depends on your stereo (I don't know how well it works with the Swing if that's what you have fitted).

This shows the kit required then buy a used module from fleabay:

http://www.carsystems.pl/bluetooth-installation-kit-plug-play-for-7p6-and-5k0-module,id127.html

If you have Maxidot you can install premium Bluetooth kit if you prefer rSAP (gives greater signal but phone has no signal while connected as this is controlled by the car):

http://www.carsystems.pl/gsm-antenna-for-premium-bluetooth-5n0-and-3c8,id113.html

They also have a 'how to' guide (for golf but pretty much the same):

STD: http://www.carsystems.home.pl/instrukcje/bluetooth golf VI.pdf

PREMIUM: http://www.carsystems.home.pl/instrukcje/VW Golf - Bluetooth 3C8 EN.pdf

Since you're in Norfolk, EDDIENL will be a good guy to get in touch with, he's only in Yarmouth and makes his own leads and can also fit - plus he'll know of any pitfalls depending on your setup.

Wow. Thanks Mark. Very helpful and comprehensive response. ! :)

My car has an arial on the roof and in the windscreen. Is the roof one for the phone?

Is this the all in kit: http://www.carsystems.pl/vw-bluetooth-kit-3c8035730c-retrofit,id1737.html ?

Is it any of the 3C modules I should look for on fleabay?

That would be the all-in kit if you want rSAP. The 3C8 module is rSAP but this doesn't work with iphone, so if you have an iphone you're better just getting the standard module (it will still display on maxidot) and saving a few £££.

If your car has this aerial with the fin then it is prep'd for phone.

Thanks again Mark.

No shark fin aerial on my car :)

Might be cheaper to get a RNS315 with phone module integrated plus you get navigation and a touch screen which makes making calls and stuff a lot easier. I used to have a swing radio with a bluetooth module and it was fine but I love my RNS315! Got the 315 off ebay for like £250

Where did you get hold of this aerial from? I am looking for a sharfin with FM, DAB and GPS?

Fleabay, the part number you need is 1K0035501F which has the 3 connections - I don't know if the phone connector can be used for DAB though.

That's sounds a good option.

What additional wiring was needed for mic, steering wheel controls, white display, antennas, etc??

There seem to be so many wiring loom options to choose from.

The bluetooth modules are a bit more complicated due to it having a box that you need to place somewhere (when i had one I cable tied it under the passenger foot well) but the rns315 is very simple. unplug swing radio and plug in 315 done. All you need to do is plug the mic into the mic slot in the roof light and a GPS module behind the top glove compartment.

All wheel controls will work fine with the radio as its an official skoda part no wiring loom needed.

1 x RNS315 (usually comes with gps antenna off ebay stores) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skoda-Amundsen-RNS-315-RNS315-Bluetooth-Navigation-System-Sat-Nav-GPS-H-VW-Seat-/301827598465?hash=item464653a881:g:JZgAAOSwCQNWcWlU

1 x VW Mic (got mine off of amazon) - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Microphone-Kit-Handsfree-Volkswagen-RNS/dp/B01DDU4ZTK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1503318138&sr=8-1&keywords=vw+microphone

I dont remember paying that much for my mic though... the RNS315 I have linked is a very new version with the latest splash screen (looks smarter than mine) but has bluetooth installed.

Sorted. Many thanks again. I've purchased a RNS315 with Bluetooth and DAB (plus GPS and DAB antennas). Will sort the mic and then of course fit it all!

Does the mic plug into the back of the 315?

The mic plugs into the bottom left rectangle hole on the quadlock plug, it can go in two ways so plug it in a test call and if they can hear you just flip it over and plug it in again.

All sorted....  apart from: bluetooth now needs activating via VCDS!

Arrgghhh!

I'm really scratching for bluetooth in mine and the RNS315 sounds perfect, does it really require VCDS to enable the bluetooth module though?

Hi,

I have a vRS MkII. Just going through the process of fitting the RNS315 which is reasonably straightforward.

The default on my car was bluetooth not activated.

You have to program the car to activate - it's simple enough with VCDS (https://www.remkoweijnen.nl/blog/2011/08/26/rns-315-enable-the-hidden-bluetooth-carkit/).

Just a case of finding someone who has.

Hope this helps.

There are a few of us around Norfolk with VCDS if you've not found anyone @AkisC

That's very kind! Thank you.

I've a local garage that will take a look at tomorrow. Will get back to you, if I may, if I'm unsuccessful.

He said he's got new expensive software but scratched his head when I mentioned VCDS!
