What about rigging up some sort of water spray onto the intercooler a-la Impreza?

Loads of threads on this going back a few years, do a search.

All reasonable ideas but they crack is if you are going to spend time and effort on improving the intercooler over and abouv this then you might as well get a FMIC.

This costs next to nothing, looks ok, and works.

If you want to know how well, find someone who has done it properly, and feel the hot air expelled when the aircon is on. It's quite surprising how much there is...

Nothing has got through the vent in well over 50k.
