really stumped on this one i my mk1 vrs 19.pd will not start but no eml light or battery light but abs light is on. wont take to the scanner just keeps refusing connection just had a starter motor and fuel pump on this car has stumpped 4 mechanics so far has anybody had this problem before.

@jordsibby - Maybe a flat battery caused by a failure in the alternator control wires. Certainly that's where I'd start, is with battery volts and those wires based on what you've said.

Will it bump start? If so, the starter "signal" wire is knackered. They tend to go anyway, so you having a new starter and having someone moving the wiring about to do it won't help.

Whilst I think about it, the dodgy connector for the alternator sense wiring is also down around there.

Mechanics always assume the wiring is alright because they hate electrics. On old Fabias the wiring is ALWAYS a problem.
