Fabian GreenLine 2

Featured Replies

Hi all, I've put a £100 down on a 14 plate 1.2 TDI CR GreenLine 2 estate with 39k miles.

It's a very tidy motor and just starting a new job 32 mile commute each way, after something very cheap to run as I'm going to have to go through Mersey tunnel aswell.

I've just been reading about the emissions scandals and that they don't do the mpg advertised. Is it still a sensible buy or am i making a mistake?

Only loose the £100 if I decide to not go through with purchase.

My Greenie (13 plate 1.2 TDI) used to return anything between 65 and 72mpg on a 65 mile run between Swindon and Uxbridge just outside London (measured with Fuelly)

I changed jobs to one just outside Witney (Oxfordshire) which is about 26 miles, I now get between 61 and 66mpg. I probably fill up (£45-50) once every 10-12 days (better than once every 5 to 6 when going to Uxbridge)... This figure hasn't changed since my Greenie was 'fixed' at skoda (just after it's 4yr MOT) I've had no problems after the Fix, The car actually feels a little perkier (could just be me though!!) :)

Hope this helps! :)

Welcome to the forum.

Enjoy the car.

The Fabia will get you as good economy as any other similar sized car, probably better than any others, and they do not do EU Test MPG's, or the emissions unless inside a Temp Controlled building on a rolling road with no passengers, extras or luggage.

?

Do you know if the car has had 'The Fix', if buying at a VW Group / Skoda main dealers it will have had, but then you are getting some kind of Skoda / VW guarantee.

Ok cheers guys that's put my mind at rest, my vectra has done 120k miles and averages low 40s mpg so between 60 and 70 mpg is gonna be a huge improvement :D

I came from a 2002 Civic which did about 44mpg and was soon to be needing Brakes, Tyres, Clutch and possibly Gearbox... So hefting £15,500 on a new Greenie (with a few extra toys) was a no brainer... and the 60-70mpg really softened the blow (as did the £1000 scrappage deal at the time) and I've never looked back!!!

Love my Flabby Greenie to bits!! :D
