Octavia TDI wont start Help

Featured Replies

Hi guys

Need urgent advice got 2002 octavia 1.9tdi will not start

worked fine one day next day just would not go nothing went bang!

The engine turns over for about second then sounds like a sewing machine like there is not any compression . Will not tow start either.

Will explain what the garage has tried so far

Done a compression test plenty of compression.timing belt okay and timing okay.Engine turns over by hand okay, been plugged into Skoda dealers diagnostic computer no error codes showing. They said could only be the fuel pump so had that taken off car with injectors both tested and were okay also replaced relay109 still no joy car has been off the road over a month now garage and myself are baffled.

Any advice appreciated

No idea mate, but I'd change garages if I were you after a month od dissatisfaction! If a diesel is getting fuel and air and the compression is OK, then how can it not start? Ah.... wait a moment... Glowplugs?

Had very similar sounding prob with my first Octy, it was the antitheft device thinking I was using the wrong key, required a fairly cheap relay replaced

glowplugs won't stop it starting. Worse i ever had with an IDI diesel was having to turn in then wait then turn in again and hold when the glows died. A DI diesel doesn't need glows :)

Anti theft relay will check that out would that not show error codes on diagnostics?

The company who checked fuel pump and injectors said to bring car to them that it could still be a fuel problem said there was a lot more to it than just the pump. They have Bosch diagnostic software something about a wire from the ECU or sensor or sender. Only going to do that as a last resort as they are 40 miles away .

Is there any sendor or sensor that could cause this problem that would not show any error codes?
