Options for 184 TDI engine?

Featured Replies

What are thoughts on different mappers  or Bix options? I know all about Shark, and have read about DTUK, but what about DNA? Quantum Tuning? Blue Fin? Which are the ones to consider and ones to avoid? Somewhere local in south Wales would be a bonus too, but any recommendations, thoughts, experiences?

I had my Leon FR TDI (same engine/output) remapped by a local VAG specialist who was a REVO agent.  I've found  the 181/184/190ps engine a little bit of a let down but the remap made a hell of a difference; completely transformed the car.  In gear acceleration 30-50, 50-70 was MUCH improved with power delivery being smooth and linear so you always knew when to stay on the gas and when you needed to use the gears.

I had the map on the car for 3 years and didn't have one single mechanical issue or reported fault.  Based on tank-to-tank calculations my fuel economy was also increased too, typically by 5-10%

I dare say not all REVO agents are equal in terms of service but if you could find a recommended local one then I can whole heartedly recommend the product itself.

Quattro Tech in St Ives, Cambs.  Very very good VAG specialist.  After initial issues with the supplying SEAT dealer I decided to hunt out a local specialist for servicing, etc.  Handily these guys were also a REVO agent and had just won REVO dealer of the year.

When I first got the car mapped they spent 30 mins or so on a test drive and carrying out a health check to ensure it was up to a remap, despite it having less than 20k miles on the clock.  From earlier dealings with them I was also confident that if the remap was to cause an issue they'd sort it out but I never had a single issue with it and my car in almost 4 years ownership.

That's a positive sounding experience.
