2011 Octavia 1.6TDI CAYC Flywheel

Featured Replies

Morning everyone,

I've been driving myself a little bit crazy trying to find out any info about this so I figured asking on here might be worth a shot.

I have a 61 reg octavia, from 10/2011 and my clutch has been a little bit hard since I bought it and occasionally the bite point does feel a little bit high. I have driven a lot of newer cars for work and my clutch definitely feels incredibly hard when coming back from one of them so It's probably just me going a little paranoid but having had two clutch failures in the past on second hand cars I bought I don't really want to risk it.

Anyway I've been trying to figure out whether my particular car has a dual mass flywheel or just a single mass for a while and I keep finding contradicting information on different websites.

Most places I've looked at categorise the 09 - 12 models all in the same categories and say it has a dmf, but from further research it does appear as if there were several revisions of clutches in the same engine? Also I have found on forums that some people are saying VAG were having issues with the DMFs and switched to SMFs for that reason and also the other way around stating that the issues were with the SMFs and that's why they switched to a DMF.

From what I've seen it's 09-10 with a DMF, 1.6tdi 4x4 with a dmf but from either october 2010 or may 2011 some cars appear to have a single mass flywheel? I did try having a look online for a part code for the clutch kit but didn't really get anywhere with it as some sites even stated it's a 240mm clutch and others stated 228.

Has anyone had experience with this?
