Buying an Octavia - understanding the specs / options

Featured Replies

Evening all,

Looking for some advice on specs / equipment etc here in the UK.

I've decided to buy an Octavia Estate, 2.0 TDI Manual, I'm looking for a used one, anything from 65 plate onwards.  I've been trying to make sense of the specs but struggling with what's standard vs optional and also the fact that the specs seem to have had some changes.

Other than four wheels + steering wheel I definitely want:

 - cruise control

 - play music from USB stick and / or SD card

 - play music from phone via Bluetooth

 - parking sensors front and back.

 - good audio quality for music playback (not necessarrily amazing - but good).

 - can take tow bar for towing (I'm happy to have that fitted after though).

I 'd quite like

 - adaptive cruise control,

 - reversing camera.

I don't care about satnav, I have a Tomtom which I love and will continue to stick on the windscreen.

So I think I need to go higher than SE spec, do I get all of that as standard on SE-L?  All the way back to 65 plate, or were there changes in or before the facelift?  Is the only difference between SE-L and SE-Technology the seats?  Is SE-Business also worth considering?

Do they all come with a decent stereo (so I guess 6 or 8 speakers and a reasonable head unit)?  I've heard of Bolero / Amundsen / Columbus, given I'm not bothered about satnav are they all as good as each other?  Bearing in mind I want USB / SD card plus Bluetooth audio streaming.

Finally, I'm also considering a Scout (don't _need_ one, just like them!) - is that the same equipment spec as SE-L?

Thanks in advance!

Martin

Scout is above the SE-L spec. Have you had a look at the Skoda brochure? It's all pretty self explanatory in there! The Scout has pretty much all on your wishlist, however the front parking sensors, ACC and reversing camera would be additional options.

Are those also additional options on SE-L?  I think I've gathered that ACC is standard on SE-Tech - is that right?  But not on SE-L.

I have looked at the brochure but the trouble is most likely I'll be getting a 16 or 66 plate car and I guess the specs have changed since then?  If I were buying a new one it would be very simple I'm sure!  If only!

I'm trying to minimise the number of dealers I have to ring to ask specifics about the spec... especially given there's a fair chance they won't know without looking or may get it wrong...

Thanks,

Martin
