Subscribe to a Volvo?.

Featured Replies

Devil is in the detail but the business world  is trying to put everything on  subscription now and this is just an evolution of PCP or leasing really.

I'm guessing you'll pay a premium for the ability to change every year.

I kindof like the Volvos right now. A friend has an XC90 which has some amazing tech but unless you're well over 6' you will look like a child that has stolen his Dad's car.

But personally I don't feel old enough to drive one. I might have thought about the Polestar but they've dropped the V6 and put in a turbocharged 4. It might work as well or even better but who dreams of driving a car with 4 cylinders?

I agree, the new Volvo's don't cut it in the performance world. Comparing to the old T5R for example. I had a mk2 V70R, which had the 2.5 lump people associate with the Focus RS and even then I found it boring and too reserved.

Many mates made the old man jokes, until I pointed out the 300bhp as standard.

I'm all for this business model, I've had years of fixing various issues with old cars, or wondering if the thing will get me to work in the morning. My current car is on a PCP, the next will be a straight lease, I only do around 7k a year so there are some great deals about, just seen an Audi A4 avant 1.4 S line for around £220 a month, unfortunately I am unable to return my car until May so won't be taking this up!

I have a feeling that it won't be long and it you'll be able to borrow a car like you borrow a Boris bike

^^^ You can now with various schemes around the UK and from car Manufacturers / Dealerships./ Fleet providers.

EV schemes where you can pick up an ICE car for longer journeys, more room etc and leave your leased or bought EV.

Car Clubs getting much more common in Scotland with EV's at not much money, St, Andrews, Inverness, Northern and Western Isles etc etc.

Where renewable electricity is plentyful, and Government Grants are generous.

£444 plus sales tax I guess (~8%) = £480.

For a £35k car I suppose that's ok. unless they want a deposit as well.

I see £444 a month as (almost) a mortgage on a buy to let!
