99 ron fuel

Featured Replies

hi guys (and girls) just a quick question i always fill my car with shell v power nitro because it is 99 ron but it is getting rather expensive near me 1:30 per litre! now i went to costco last weekend and noticed they do 99 ron fuel at an absolute steal 1:17 per litre! now is there any difference between quality between shell and costco reflective of price? and do you think a twin charger would purr nice on costco super unleaded? just wanted to no what shell do differently in terms of additives to reflect the difference in price

I can't comment on Costco, but used to use Shell V power. I now use Tesco Momentum which is also 99 Ron, the only difference I have noticed is the 10+ pence per litre difference.

Tesco Momentum (99 RON) is about £1.21 / litre although frankly I haven't noticed any issues with the regular, generally available 97 RON that I use because it is widely available.
Do you have to be a Costco customer?
I have never seen a Costco petrol station.

There are 2 wholesellers of 99 Octane Super Unleaded in the UK,  Royal Dutch Shell or Greenergy.

So Greenergy produces Tesco Momentum 99 and is part owned by Tesco,

good chance they supply Costco.

Shell V-Power Nitro+ difference, higher price, more spent on advertising and secret detergent package and just as much ethanol in as Tesco Momentum 99 to make it 99 Octane & not 97.

Just buy the 99ron at the 'much cheapness' price.

you do have to be a costco member to fill up but ive worked it out at saving on average £2:50 per tank so the membership affectively pays for itself also costco have a rule where if your not satisfied with your membership you can cancel at anytime for a full refund on the membership

It's good stuff. Our little 1.2 TSI does about 3-4 mpg better on it than regular. Pays for itself and it is much cheaper to start with.

Our Costco fuel station is opening very soon, so I could easily be tempted to buy a few tankfuls and see how it goes - it will be good to get the car park returned to its fullish capacity once it opens and the contractors shuffle off!

Edit:- ran wife's Polo 6C 1.2 110PS down to under 10 miles range yesterday, maybe a bit trusting of traffic conditions/brave/completely stupid - anyway got it to my favourite Esso place okay!

1 uphill boosted overtake at 25 miles range and it went down to 15 range. Lost 10 miles range in around 1/4 mile. LOL.  Incline must have thrown my range off a bit
