Dension Ice-Link question

Featured Replies

I am considering having a Dension Ice Link fitted to my new Fabia VRS. I prefer the cradle option on the passenger side but was wondering if this would get in the way of the cup holder in the Fabia? Anyone have any experience of the Ice-link in a Fabia with the OEM stereo?

Thanks,

JB

stick it in the glove box, don't need it on view...

Do the 06 models come with a cuphholder then? or are you adding the vw one that slots into the left of the stereo?

I have got that one fitted in my furby and it sometimes catches on the jvc dvd headunit which is a pain, but I use the cupholder as my phone holder as I have got a foook off big m2000 / xdaIIi.

should not be to much of a bodge to get it to miss though :D

I'm not sure if the 06 model does come with cup holders - does anyone out there know? Any pictures knocking around of the dashboard cup holder out/extended?

Would prefer to have the ipod in the cradle so that I can change albums, rate songs etc (whilst stationary of course ;) )

if its the same as the Alpine unit, then you cannot change songs on the ipod itself once you've connected it to the headunit. You have to use the headunit controls.

I had a Dension Ice-link on my previous car and you could change tracks/albums/playlists on the headunit or the ipod itself so I'm assuming it would be the same with the Skoda OEM headunit.

maybe, put the alpine one is different. once its plugged into the HU you cannot control the ipod from the ipod/

Dension ICE if like the the Connects2 one I have you can use both the ipod and the radio. But with the connects 2 you can only use the rafio to change tracks. But it only costs £55

Can definitely use the iPod GUI when it's connected to my Becker HU, i.e. control the iPod and have access to all thge menus from the iPod. Have to go through the Dension setup menu to set it though (by selecting CD6 from the HU). The default setting is the Dension GUI, which is effectively just to display info on the iPod, with the controls of the HU being used to control tracks.

I agree that putting the iPod in the glove box is much less distracting, but with the DSG box and cruise control, there's not much left to do when driving :P so playing with the iPod is nice.

You might also consider using a different cradle -- I use a Brodit one that can be attached in a number of different positions using the various clips available. It's also cheaper than the Dension cradle.

I have the DMP3a, The hdd unit.

FYI, it will not fit in the glove box, or in the gap below the radio, or the gap very close to the ashtray, the unit it too long.

The Hdd unit works with the cd changer output on the std HU.

Any further info them please PM me. :)

i have had one of these units now for 2 years,
