Factory fitted Towbar

Featured Replies

Hi All

Does anyone know how I can tell if my car came with a factory fitted towbar or was fitted later by a skoda dealer? My insurance is due for renewal and some companies won't charge extra if it was fitted before registration but will if it was done after!!

I don't have a sticker in the service book in on the rear of the Yeti with the codes usually found.

You can get a full list of PR codes based on your VIN for about €7 + tax  from Skoda: https://erwin.skoda-auto.cz/

Otherwise, a friendly dealer might print you a list for free.

1/ Really? Never heard that one before. Let me guess that the companies that do charge are the supposed "cheap" ones.

2/ Surprised that one of them isn't present. Normally the back one is under the spare wheel/boot plastics. If they aren't there then the only way will be to ask a dealer for a print out.

There is a build sticker under the floor in the boot towards the back on the left.
If you find what number code the tow-bar is it'll tell you whether it was built in with the car.

Edit: It could be one of these.
1M0     Trailer hitch with hitch ball increased towing capacity
1M1     Trailer hitch preparation
1M2     Trailer hitch with pintle hitch, increased towing capacity
1M3     Trailer hitch
1M4     Trailer hitch with hitch ball increased towing capacity
1M5     Trailer hitch preparation
1M6     Trailer hitch mechanically swiveling andelectrically detachable
1M7     Trailer hitch preparation

My 2015 Yeti has a factory-fitted removeable towbar.  The PR numbers are:

1D2 - Trailer hitch, removeable and lockable

PK1 - Tow bar, removeable with adaptor

Pretty sure they never offered a factory-fitted towbar in 2010, just towbar prep at most.
