MY16 Scout/Estate boot struts - common failure?

Featured Replies

Ok so ive had my MY16 scout back from dealers today, having had both boot struts replaced for the second time.

This pair lasted three months, last replaced in June.

Has anyone else had to have the struts replaced on their 5E gen (Mk3) estate or scout?

Am half expecting them to fail again, and if this is a common issue, want to be armed with data when I take it up with CS.

TIA

I have a MY16 Scout and have not had any issues with mine

I have a MY15, and although I have had no failures, I have noticed a reluctance for the boot to open on the struts, it moves a few feet then stops and I have to push to open it fully. (Not an auto boot).

Ok - is it still under warranty?

It is, and although the problem does not occur every time the boot opens, it can be annoying. When it goes in for the next service it will be mention as well as the door seals.

I've just said to them that it's worse when it's cold, and that I've walked into the bootlid because it hasn't lifted, they've had it in and confirmed, and replaced, but they want two days notice to get the struts in, so tell them before hand so they can order them in.
