VCDS ABS Bosch 8.0 Brake Bleeding

Featured Replies

Having made a mistake in brake bleeding, I want to do an ABS Brake Bleed on my car. But VCDS does not seem to support this function on my ABS Unit.

I have this unit info from an scan I saved last year :

I am now running the latest 17.8 VCDS Version.

I have been able to do the Output test, where I'm repeatedly requested to push and release the brake pedal. That seems to of helped expel some air. However I really want to do the full ABS Bleed Procedure if possible.

Does the Bosch 8.0 ABS unit not require or support a brake bleed function ?  Or is it that VCDS can not evoke it ?

Probably worth asking rosstech as I can't see anything specific for the Bosch 8.0.

I've even looked at other label files and I see a common logon code for the ABS is 40168 but that is rejected when I enter it.

Do RossTech not browse these forums ?

I don't think they actively browse other forums...

They have their own http://forums.ross-tech.com/ as it keeps everything in one place :)

After more digging I have now successfully completed this procedure. So for info to others to perform a full ABS Bleed on my 57 1.9tdi Roomster with Bosch 8.0 ABS using VCDS, it is Open Controller ABS (3) - Basic Settings - Group 10 and Go.

You need to have All 4 bleed nipples accessable because the procedure requests Open and Close RL+RR as well as Open and Close FL+FR. So not as loads of other guides that state the ABS bleed is only front nipples. So to make it simple I had all 4 wheels off and the car on axel stands, with a one way bleeder tube going into a big bottle at every wheel. I also used my easybleed to ensure I kept an eye on fluid level too. Difficult for just me, If you can I would recommend a few helpers. Perhaps 1 on fluid watch/top up, another for front nipples and a 3rd for the rears. I must of gone front to back to front etc about 4 times. I'm not actually sure if I completed the full procedure as VCDS said partial bleed complete and then seemed to time out in the end and I just had N/A repeated in the 3 boxes. But my pedal is much firmer and it has just sailed through the MOT, so that will have to do.
