Squeaky Seat Solved

Featured Replies

I had a squeaky seat in my Superb. Coming from the middle just above the seat bolster mechanism. Didn't fancy stripping the seat and putting it all back together and risking it looking like a badly made bed. So I had to think of a solution. The cause of this squeak appeared to be coming from the lumbar mechanism being dry and the metal parts acting on each other. Then a moment of inspiration! I have some CIF liquid white furniture polish in a trigger spray bottle. I took out the head restraint and poured a quantity down each of the posts. Then I padded the seat with my hands to work the solution down the inside. The polish contains a wax and this has lubricated the parts in the seat. The result, no squeaks. A small amount oozed through the fabric at the back however once dabbed away with kitchen towel no residue remains and the seat smells nice too! If it lasts a year I'll just do the same again. I must of used about 150ml, however no squeaks!
