Columbus start up

Featured Replies

Hi all. Having problems with the Columbus unit.  Getting the start up logo for about 20 seconds, then a blank screen, then the start up logo in a continuous cycle.

The unit eventually starts and then works perfectly till the next journey.

Have searched the forum and it may need a firmware flash. Is this correct and is it something I could do myself or is it a trip to the dealer?

The car is a 2013 facelift L & K model.

Many thanks for your advice

Sounds like a firmware flash is needed yes. Depending on the unit you have and the firmware loaded on already it's possible you might be able to do it yourself. A trip to the dealers will relieve you of a fair chunk of money though, if they can do it.

Whereabouts are you?

Hi

I am near Mansfield, Notts. How do I find the firmware version already loaded?

Steve

Press and hold the "Setup" button and see if you can find "Version Information" on the second menu page, or you get through to the third menu page where all sorts of different unit details are listed. The menu you need may not be enabled though so if nothing shows after 10 seconds then you're out of luck. If you have a VCDS scan log saved then that will also show it.

Think I got the right numbers:

3T0035686H

HW version H21

SW version 6270

Map version 8048

Steve

Right. So you have a dab ssd unit. I doubt you'll find a firmware download online. You might be lucky but I'll message you later. Just in hospital at the moment.

Hope it's nothing serious Rusty.

I just downloaded a version of 6276 on my-gti, no idea if it's good/bad/ugly though :/

Mother in law had a stroke a few days ago mate. just visiting her for a while.

I'd not checked my gti. GPS underground is fatally down now though I think.

Hope she's doing as well as can be expected.

Shame about GPS underground, hoping it reappears at some point!

Problem sorted by Rustynuts.  Firmware updated and all works perfectly. He makes a good cuppa too.

Thanks
