Featured Replies

what does "engine workshop" mean  on my 06 plate skoda superb 2.0 tdi, it started doing this about a month ago when i had driven for an hour or so, it did not go into limp mode and once i had stopped the car and restarted it the message had gone, it was put on a diagnostic machine on Tuesday and it said something needed filling what would it be and how do i fill it

many thanks for your time guys

Does this one have some kind of diesel exhaust treatment system?

Could be telling you to refill an additive required by this system.

Really more details of the actual fault code, if present, is required.

On my car, 2.5 tdi once said engine workshop, and I came to my electrician and he replaces some kind of brake sensor right bellow steering wheel.

He didnt replace tough just repair it because its simple.

I would suggest you to try this, it could be that, and its pretty cheap, like 10euros.

As said above you need someone local with vcds to find the fault code as it could be a multitude of different things.

I think the first fitment of a dpf on the Superb 2.0 pd involved a seperate tank of additive (not adblue) in a similar way to some French cars at the time. The pd engine was difficult to adapt to running with a DPF due to the mechanically/electrically fired injector pumps (only mechanically operated once per revolution). I think it's a visit the dealer job I' afraid

Don't these systems use urea of some description, maybe it says in the owner manual somewhere? The information is out there, could you ask at a local motor factor?

NOOOO.  Superb Mk1 is NOT urea based, it is some expensive Eolys molybdenum type liquid, really nasty stuff - highly carcinogenic (so let's stick it in the exhaust).  The cars that use urea (Adblue) go through it much quicker.

If you stick Adblue in the error will go away because the level sensor will register liquid, but pretty soon you'll have a totally blocked DPF.
