Central locking self activating

Featured Replies

My 03 Octavia estate has developed a problem with the central locking. It's been happening rarely for several months but since last weeks rain has begun to lock/unlock randomly, even when driving. I'm guessing there may be a water issue, but can anyone suggest the best way to go about finding the fault please?

Many thanks

You could use this as a start point for your woes, -

See what you find and come back to us as this is a common issue with many causes around the door area. Do you get the door led flashing randomly when this happens while you are driving or does it only flash when you lock it normally?.

Thanks KP1. I will check the led in the morning, but as far as I can remember, I think the led flashes at the same time as all the locks click on and off. I've checked the nsr hole and it's all dry. It generally locks and unlocks fine with the key blips. I had wondered if the key remote might be "sticking", as it often happens when I turn the key in the ignition to start the car. What do you think?

Do you have a spare key to try to rule the remote out?.

Unfortunately not.
