Cycling to work?

Featured Replies

-3 to about -5 is OK IMO at about 15 mph until you are into a head wind and Ice Cream Forehead sets in and then you are confronted with the likes of Red Pavers.

& for me Cycling in Sub Zero temps is much more pleasant when doing it for leisure and pleasure or in wonderful locations rather than out of necessity

or where your life is in others hands.

That your commute route or *just* some local roads for your own pleasure?  Looks stunning.

Do you ever use studded tyres? Or just rely on the front print of the fat bike?

Mar Lodge Estate.

Now National Trust Scotland owns it, i lived and worked there a long time back,  there was a Ski tow built along there at one time, and Mar Lodge had ski hire, changing rooms and a public bar,

now just a favourite cycling area in winter.

I ride to work a few times a year. 30 miles each way, 12 hours shift, 7-7. Not ideal.

I average ~19.5mph so have to set off for work at 4:45ish to get to work and get a shower etc.

So I then don't get home till 20:30.. it's a long shift..

“Ice cream forehead”.................respect that AwayoffSki!!

Not cycled to work for a couple of years but when I was it was 2.5 miles of uphill near enough, used to love the run back after work with it being downhill.

Really need to dig the bike out again when I do not use the car a couple of days a week for work.
