WLAN not working

Featured Replies

You lovely briskoders with your excellent knowledge ****ING HELP!!!

Ok , so was working a few days ago. I go into car turn on my phones tethering and create wifi hotspot. Tada , I can see google maps.

Now , I do the above yesterday and today , I can see my phone ( LG K8 2017) I can see it has signal and the wee green dot. All looks as it should. WIFI hotspot on , phone sees the car

But , no , I cant get goggle maps. I go to skoda connect and immediately it says error. I'm not getting even the normal traffic data from tcs.

So what have I done. I turned off blue T and re found the car. I took my sim out and re-inserted. I tried 3 other phones. Samsung galaxy s8 , iPhone 6s and an I phone 7. All done as the LG K8 did. Looked like it was connected but no online. My car details say I have these services until 01/09/18.

So ****ing annoyed as the car is one month old.

Should I do a factory re-set? Or take back to dealer to sort?

Dealer without a doubt as any playing unless someone knows exactly will not get you any where as you stated. It is only a month old.

A few days ago Skoda updated their servers and 'broke' Skoda connect for a lot of users. I assume when you try to go to Skoda connect you get an error which says: 'Error: Skoda Connect'?

My car was doing this. It still uploaded car data to Skoda but Skoda connect was not working.

The working theory is the web services have been updated and the cached files (probably some XML) now differ to the live services. What you can try doing is:

1. Go to Settings

2. Go to Factory Settings

3. Select Skoda Connect - and reset this. I think this deletes the local files. Note this is not a full factory reset.

4. You will be asked about deleting the registered user - I said no.

5. Skoda connect will download the files again and now work.

I did actually try deleting the registered user first and re-register using the Skoda Connect App but that made no difference hence calling Skoda.

I suspect there are thousands of people with this problem but they don't know it yet. I can write a better guide tomorrow by noting down exactly what I did with screen shots.

Another symptom/evidence is the icon to the left of the  time at the top of the display would display a red globe instead of white with the word WiFi. But go to Skoda connect on the web or app and data was being sent. Skoda could also see that the car was connecting.

Hi there just to add to this I got my car on Monday and couldn't register my Skoda Connect services until about 6pm but when I had done it and told the car the pin number it all seems to working as it should.

You probably couldn't register  to begin with because they were updating the servers. If you had registered before Monday the chances are it will have stopped working because of the update.

Not sure how often I'll use most of the Skoda Connect facilities apart from on longer drives the traffic where the data comes from TomTom rather than just TMC via the radio. If I could get MirrorLink to work I could just use my TomTom app but I at least have Google Maps to fall back on if live traffic updates is important.

Enjoy your car. I certainly like mine a lot.

Tried the above , didn't work. So left it till today , tried connecting WLAN and  IT WORKS.

I can connect to skoda connect now. As far as I can tell , I didn't download any software.

Just started working again after a week of not working

oh well  glad its back on

As I said Skoda told me they update the servers last week. I suspect the details of the web services are cached and my deleting the settings fixed it for me. It may also auto clear the cached files (probably XML).
