4x4 owners. New suspension setup of any interest?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

This is a post really aimed at the 4x4 Octy owners with an interest in an aftermarket spring and damper setup. As far as I know the only options currently out there are KW coilovers costing upto

if the new setup replaces the wobbling front of the 4x4 with a firmer and sportier feel (say...vrs), i would buy them with my eyes closed. KW are just way out of my league (suspension-money wise).

Thanks for the reply. Id agree with what you say no doubt though that the KW's are very good if you require them. :)

I'm teetering on the brink of a suspension upgrade and £500 is about the right money as far as I'm concerned. I believe FK coilovers are OK for the 4x4 and they come in at £350ish, £550 fitted and aligned. Personally, I would like a setup that lowers the car but doesn't kill the ride quality - this is more important than out and out handling ability for me.

Whilst I am strapped for cash at the moment (just buying another project car) it would be something I would like to do in 6 months to a years time.

For me I would want it to be a lot less sloppy, less dive and pitch and less roll, BUT without a complete loss of ride comfort. One thing I find is that the car is really noisey, and again I wouldnt want that to increase too much...

Henry, that pretty much matches exactly what Im after.

The kit is on its way to me and I should have it fitted in the next three weeks. I will of course let you all know how it goes and give the info on purchasing the kits in future. :)

excellent! Missed you at the FFOC meeting, was hoping for a ride to force me into doing mine:D

Was going to mission it down this morning to have a look see at the Outback but ran out of time... Definately have to try once you have the suspension done, be nice to have a couple more sleepers there:thumbup:

Why not just combine the existing H&R kit with a set of yellow Konis? Or perhaps the MADs that I have.

I believe these two are the only spring manufacturers that have made springs to fit the 4x4. Eibach simply don't have them and would have to make them to order. That will always be more expensive that pairing two existing options. Of which I believe the H&R kit will be the most sensible option as the MADs cost even more...

Hi!

Does anyone know the H&R correct part number for Octavia 4x4 hatch..?

I've already fitted a set of 29438-1 (which is for Audi S3-TT) but I think my car is much more heavy at the rear...

The 29408 set is only for Estate??Or I can fit it in Hatch too...?

If anybody wants to get two new dampers or pursue the rebuilding of said dampers, I have a set of KW v2 coilovers in storage.

They are for the 4x4 as it's what I had before the rs.

Mark at awesome has suggested he can help / route the dampers to an appropriate builder/rebuild. I have no idea as to the cost of that.

Both fronts are weeping, but the rears are fine :)

Only done about 20k on them.

open to offers, given front damper /build / rebuild cash in hand take em off me no warranty given or implied etc etc.
