Car was serviced yesterday, went to check the service book afterwards to see if it was stamped and but couldn't find one.  Are they no more and all on the cars info system?

No.  The service book is now virtual and accessible to service departments within the Skoda (and possibly wider VAG) network. 

Had my Octavia serviced Thursday and was told by the service agent that there is no service book. However I was given a stamped service record print out, so good as "a stamp in the book"
