BP Garage locator for Superb Sat Nav

Featured Replies

Hi,

On the BP site you can download a POI file to locate all the filling stations and then add to the sat nav.  Problem is they list all the other Sat Nav makers but not Columbus has anyone else came up with a solution to this.

Cheers

Steppy

BP service stations are already included in the system's POI files but it's not one of the brands you can choose as a default when you get a low fuel warning. They're also only as up to date as the last map update.

With the MY16 Columbus you can quickly search for a specific POI by name and/or category which makes it fairly easy to find specific filling stations - I always look for Tesco for their 99 Momentum but you could just as easily choose BP. It's my understanding, however, that they made this functionality a lot more complicated with the MY17 update onwards.

To go the DIY route choose to download the Garmin option which should give you either a CSV or GPX file. Then browse my instructions here.

As Roo says, you need to do all the Personal POIs that you want in a single batch. If you want to update or add to your PPOI at a later date you need to redo the batch as each time you load it into Columbus it overwrites your previous installed batch.

I wonder if there is a way of using this system to import the locations of speed cameras? I know that various work arounds have appeared on this site related to Speed Cameras but if we knew the GPS co-ordinates of each speed camera it seems to me that the problem would be easily solved. Apart from an audio warning of approaching a speed camera I suppose.

pocketgpsworld have a speed camera database that they have leapt up to date for over 10 years now.

They charge for a years access to it.
