Does you VRS do this?

Featured Replies

My Furby is sounding VERY rough this week, not sure why. Someone i know says it's because the engine is not properly warming up during this cold weather we're having but a lot of my journeys are over 45 mins in duration.

Anybody elses Furby VRS sound rougher than normal this week?

Nope, not especially this week. Mainly because its been off the road.

However, this morning it sounded rough after having its first start in a few days. Rougher than normal I would say, but it was fine after a couple of minutes.

On every cold morning I always get 2 minutes of sluggish reluctant progress, and a sticky gearbox in 1st and 2nd. Something I just get used to, drive around until it warms up a little, and enjoy it once its warmed up fully. ;)

On REALLY cold mornings a lot of the roughness could be explained by gloopy fuel.

Certainly my sound is different on startup in the cold morning, but once the engine is up to temperature (about 7 miles/10 minutes) the normal sound track is restored.

Are you getting near to a service due?? maybe worth a check of the oil anyway?

If I've left mine to stand for a few days it's very rough to start with, it's a car that likes to be used all the time.

Like the big man said check the oil, but I'm guessing it's down to the colder damper weather that we have been having

I can only agree with everything thats been said.

It sounds horrible on cold mornings, especially when its not been run for a few days. Its almost embarassing... :thumbdwn:

Diesels don't sound nice anyway...

I had it serviced about 3 weeks ago, i'm pretty convinced they overfilled the oil because i kept finding little pools around the filler cap.

Tha't settled down now but it's started sounded rough, it's a noise though that i can't really describe.

the engine has two modes.when you start it in a very cold morning its in a differen mode like someone said after couple min.sound ok again.had the same feeling and was litte big scared.

When it's properly cold and you're trying to heat it up for defrosting the windows etc, don't just let it idle, rev it up to the point where the turbo is working. Otherwise it's not going to warm up at all. As soon as you are able to do so safely, get the car moving as it needs to be under load to heat up 'properly'.

My car has the soundproofing gubbins under the engine cover shown in one of the pics on the SC thread, as well as additional under-bonnet soundproofing, and it does keep the heat in a bit better + reduces the clatter. It's still a diesel though and takakaka is part of the soundtrack when it's cold in particular :)
