Noticed my mk1 vrs driving say in 2nd,  3rd and  4th gear at 2000rpm when I put my foot down the car with rev to 2500rpm then drop down to 2000rpm and then rev through as normal untill I change gear 

 

Does anyone know what this could be? 

sounds like clutch slipping
