Car would sometimes start and others not

Hi,

I have just bought a used Rapid, the car is very nice and was running very smoothly for the past month. However, now a strange thing happens. When I put in the key and turn to ignition, the instrument cluster doesn't light up and all meters don't work and turning the key further doesn't start the car, there is no noise from the starter or anything, it is just silent. Doing that a couple of times and then it finally works, I keep turning the key back and forth, removing then put back in and so on till the instrument clusters lights up, when that happens the cars starts normally and very smoothly. I though it was a dead battery issue at first and changed the battery but then it keeps happening even with the new battery.

Any ideas on what could be going wrong?
