Heater Fan squeaking slightly

Featured Replies

The in-car heater fan squeaks slightly at low speed, I am assuming it's become loose on the motor shaft.

How does it attach to the shaft ?

Can I tighten up whatever has come loose - and is it fairly simple to do ?

Thanks in anticipation.

Would also like to know as mine does this sometimes

More likely to be the motor squeaking than the fan coming loose.

Should be large carbon built-up on axle's collector side... Dismantle cpl.fan, take out motor from housing, clean with compressed air, spray wd40 or smth better on shaft (collector side and blade's side- as far as can reach with spray tube under fan blades). For one year should be silent. Trick is to get out motor from it's housing- be careful with wires and plug.

Plastic blade (pre-balanced and dirty after many years :-) is pressed on shaft- in theory, it can't become loose. Motor sits in plastic housing, through elastic inserts.
