Wheel size MKII vRS

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I know this is likely to have been covered many, many time before.

We have a MKII vRS and want some winter wheels. There are as set of A6 wheel's for sale locally but I'm not sure if they'd fit:

Tyres: 7.5J 225/55/R17

The offset is ET37, which seems low. It already has spacers, which I'm not sure will help, nor hider.

Will these fit?

Thanks,

John

If they are 5x112 then in theory they'd fit.  Trouble is, the tyre size is wrong so your speedo would be out.  The ET of 37 is low too and would be 14mm further out than the stock wheels (assuming you are running the 18" rim).

They are 5x112 and I am running standard 18's.

Sounds like these are a no go, I'll keep looking.

16" will fit as well.

They will fit and fill the arches nicely, I have 8x18 225 40 18 with an ET of 38 and they are fine, just don't use the spacers

Only thing is if they are Audi you may need spigot rings

yes they will fit, having them sit further out in the arch at et37 is fine  ( I assume you can take your spacers off?) if not then no they wont fit and will also put too much strain on your bearings.

do you have maxidot? if so there should be a function in the menu to select winter wheels and adjust the speedo but this shouldn't be a problem on this wheel size.

i've done a check below:

long and short, yes they will fit but you may need spigot rings as already advised

I don't think you can adjust the speedo, the winter tyre warning in Maxi Dot is only  an  " over speed "  warning. You can set it to remind you when you reach a speed you have set it  too. It warns you that you have winter tyres on.

hmm I have an option of 'speedo+/- 1mph' on mine, I'll have a play with it later and see what happens

Strange, I have only the option to set a speed warning on my 230. I too will have a look later and investigate. I'll let you know the out come

Have you had your car from new ? perhaps someone has enabled this function. Making a mistake on resetting the Speedo could result in a speeding fine
