Strut Brace

Featured Replies

Anyone know what strut brace fits a mkII Fabia 1.6 TDI  & were i can get one..

Thanks in advance if anyone knows cheers.....

Most require drilling holes in the strut top tower to get the bolts through since the Fabia uses a single fixing bolt in the middle.

Also from reading on various forums, strut braces arent exactly beneficial apart from looks! your better off getting a whiteline RARB which from people on here transforms the car!!

Do you need to permanently  remove the underbody panel to fit this? (Mine has a long length plastic underbody cover, like the under engine thing).

the strut brace mounts from the top of the front suspension pillars but on the fabia this is tricky as it just has a single bolt at the top. The RARB goes at the back of the car to stiffen up the rear axle beam.

Strut braces are old skool mods; modern chassis are significantly stiffer than back in the 70s/80s making them less effective. As mentioned above, an anti-roll bar is likely to have more benefit that a strut brace.

I got that but wanted to know if the plastic trim needs permanent removal or can stay put when RARB is fitted, if you see what I mean. I am kinda hoping the fitment makes no difference to the under tray.

Does your Greenline have plastic covers at the rear axle where you will be fitting the Rear Anti Roll Bar.

If so then you will have to remove it to fit the RARB, and might not be able to refit it, or will need to trim it.

I'll have to have a proper look underneath to see. I know they are longer then standard covers in order to offer lower wind drag.

Just fitted a RARB to my Greenline 2 Estate this past weekend. Aware that this is an old thread, but the plastic undertray on mine doesn't extend as far as the back axle and doesn't interfere in any way with the RARB.

Hope it was an H&R one

Whiteline. I'd recommend it to others, fitting was dead easy. From photos I think the H&R bar would also have fitted without issues.

This OP was about a Strut Brace and that is what people find when anyone does a search, somehow it is now about 'Rear Anti Roll Bars'.   Different things.

Strut braces do nothing on these cars!!! Best spend the money one something you will notice right!

^^^ I take it you mean the 'Strut Braces' under the bonnet and on the turrets.  That need drilling to install.

Do you know anything about the other Strut Braces that have been designed for and used on Mk2 Fabia.

Under the Gearbox and at the rear ahead of the RARB, or between the Top Struts at the rear with the rear seat removed or not.

They would not be for me, but others have used them for track use, or posing / bragging rights.

If you are trundling around the roads at 70 or even 100 MPH in a Mk2 Fabia then they are going to be about posing with the bonnet open when not trundling.

There were even Briskoda suggested Group Buys on Mk2 Fabia with members here and there were ones made and fitted.

Then the likes of these.

Strut Braces under the bonnet. I know about braces but the day to day driver they are not noticeable... the only one I think is worth getting as a day to day driver who likes a little spirited driving is a RARB.
