Getting front door cards out...

Featured Replies

Has anyone got any suggestions? I need to get the plastic door handle off, but I don’t have any sort of tool to get it off... any suggestions?

Very useful place to look -( hint hint)

I wouldn’t be asking if I’d seen it covered elsewhere. I know the process of getting them off, I just haven’t got a clue what to use.

the front doors are different to the back doors as well

Try this link, no photos but fairly well explained

Thanks for that... it’s well explained but unfortunately the bit I need help with isn’t much help as his plastic handle came straight off

which handle? the door handle has a cover which needs to be pulled off then you can access the torx screw to undo it. The actual handle doesnt need to be removed

The plastic grab handle has to come off, and you need to shove something up the hole in the bottom of it to release the catch

You can just yank it off. That clip that needs releasing from that hole hardly affects the refitting of the handle if you destroy it.

You might be able to use a thin screwdriver to remove the clip that secures the trim closest to the door card (see #1 below).  I used a trim removal tool to lift the front edge of the trim away from the handle, although I snapped the clip on mine for not following the procedure. As @TMB states it doesn't affect the refitting if you snap the clip, but it doesn't engage quite as well without it :speechless:

I've not seen Wino's method before. I always use a thin tool to lever up the "outside", then, with a torch and thin screwdriver, you can poke the tab to release the inside clip.

Second pic in this advery shows the clips.

The big one needs pushing towards the door. Teh cover can also be a little sticky require a bit of a pull or pry once the big clip is released.

Haynes manual..tells you as per the Skoda book above...

That's how I did mine...

I have been following my Haynes manual, the grab handle would not come off with any amount of prying and poking.

However as it turns out I may not need to take it off anyway... I thought the speaker was dodgy, now the other speaker has been playing up and it looks like it might be the wiring into the back of the radio
