Mechanical clicking noise on full beam

Featured Replies

I've got a 2007 TDI and I noticed when I had the door open and I tried to put full beam on, the full beam comes on and I can hear a mechanism move in a clicking sound. Is that normal?

Yes it’s a shutter based system.

As above..

. Some models have a single filament, H7 bulb that has a kind of cover that hides the upper part of the beam when set to dipped beam, then motors flap the cover up to reveal a higher, bigger beam pattern on full (Main) Beam.

Strange arrangement as most cars use twin filament or multi bulbs to do this.

That's a weird way of setting up a car headlight... surely a H4 (even though they are terrible) would have been easier!! VAG never surprises me!
